Rights of Children without Parental Care 2023

Theme: “Rights of Children without Parental Care and Preventing Family Separation: Opportunities and Challenges”

RCWPC 2023 OVERVIEW

We welcome original research articles that raise important, new and relevant research questions, from academicians, researchers, practitioners, social workers, policy-makers, mental health experts, managers, activists, and students working in the field of alternative care of children. We also invite legal and human rights-based perspectives, policy frameworks, opinion pieces, and good practices/models along with research around poverty, COVID 19, financial crisis and its impact on alternative care spaces.

Invitation will be sent out for universities, practitioners and institutions requesting to submit abstracts on selected themes. Contributions can be in the form of empirical and theoretical research papers, and case studies. Papers will be reviewed by a group of academics and select a few to present at the symposia.

Purpose

The symposium aims to focus on the rights of children and youth in alternative care setup. The advocacy platform is designed to bring together eminent practitioners, policy makers, academicians, children and young persons to share discourses related laws, practices, challenges, best practices and emerging issues related to prevention of family separation, provide quality alternative child care and after care Services.

Objectives

  • To influence policies and practices to recognize and prioritize children and young people in alternative care settings including children out of care
  • To share experiences, lessons learned and best practices locally and across the countries on the topics especially significant influence on policies change and implementations.
  • To provide an opportunity for key stakeholders at many levels to directly engage with constructive dialogue and proposed doable solutions.
  • To promote participation of children and youth from various alternative care settings in expressing and claiming their rights
